Mixtape by Georgiev & Milkov
The Mixtape is a fantastic example of the quality wine and modern winemaking techniques coming out of Bulgaria. It blends three of Bulgaria's most iconic grapes - Mavrud, Rubin and Pamid (which makes up 50% of the blend).
To make the wine, Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov select the best grapes from across the Thracian Valley region. Then, a variety of winemaking techniques are used to perfect the final blend. Some skin contact fermentation, some whole bunch fermentation (for extra fruitiness), and some Malolactic conversion (for softness).
It's a cracking versatile red - bright, fresh and crunchy, with loads of fruit and a touch of oak.

If you’re new to Bulgarian wine, this is a great place to start, showcasing three of Bulgaria's best local grapes. It's crowd pleasing red wine - medium bodied, tons of fruit, and some complexity from the natural processes permitted - skin contact, oak ageing, and malolactic. Pairs easily, but a charcuterie would be ideal.
Georgiev Milkov
Oenologists Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov are the brains behind this project, driven by their shared passion for indigenous Bulgarian grape varieties. They don't own any vineyards, but source grapes meticulously from local growers, with a focus on quality fruit and minimal intervention in the winery.
