A light, juicy German white that brings familiar grapes and new discoveries together.

Riesling and Müller-Thurgau are joined by Sauvitage, Souvignier Gris and Calardis Blanc in Christine Pieroth's Aurora. Lemon blossom, apple and a little plum give it a bright, inviting character, with enough subtle detail to keep things interesting.

This release blends wine from 2022 and 2023, adding another dimension to a bottle that is wonderfully easy to enjoy. It is a fresh way to discover the Nahe, perfect for sharing a relaxed evening with friends.

Why we chose it?

We chose it for its adventurous blend and thoughtful natural winemaking, opening up German white wine beyond a single grape.

Aurora
The wine...

Aurora

Each variety is picked separately, with some grapes pressed straight away and others spending five nights on their skins. The wines develop in a mixture of stainless steel and used oak, resting on the yeast left after fermentation for extra texture. Aurora is bottled without fining, filtration or added sulphur. We would pair it with herby salads, roast chicken or mild cheese for an easy dinner with added interest.

Christine Pieroth brings a fresh approach to a long history of grape growing in the Nahe. Biodiversity matters here, with flowers and plants encouraged between the vines. Nettles, chamomile and garden herbs form part of her biodynamic preparations. Even the labels reflect the surroundings, using leaves gathered locally and printed by hand. It is a personal project whose connection with the vineyard continues all the way to the bottle.
Nahe
The region...

Nahe

The Nahe is a small German wine region in the Hunsrück hills, following the river towards the Rhine. Its geological variety is remarkable, with volcanic rock, slate, limestone and other soils giving growers different conditions within a relatively compact area. Riesling is the leading grape, but Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc also have important roles. Sheltered sites and plenty of sunshine help explain the diversity of wines worth exploring here.
